Learner Pathways (S2 Course Choice) - Key Information
Introduction
During Term 3, pupils in S2 will be asked to start thinking about making choices to help them on their journey within education and beyond. We aim to provide relevant information to pupils and their parents / carers to help make informed decisions.
Curricular pathways interviews will take place from week commencing Monday 19th January by House Teams and Guidance Teachers. This process will be supported by input during PSE classes, as well as the S2 Course Choice Information Evening on Wednesday 7th January.

General Advice
Pupils should read the course descriptions carefully and ensure they are familiar with the course content before selecting a particular course. Pupils will be actively encouraged to take the subjects/courses in which they have the greatest chance of success.
It is key that pupils consider their enjoyment and ability within a subject, as well as ensuring a balance across curricular areas.
For learners considering studying at University after school, entrance is usually based on the number and quality of Higher passes achieved in S5 and S6. A strong foundation of successful National 5 passes in S4 is key in this process.
All pupils should consider the level of study and progression route(s) available - successful completion of a Level 5 course in S4 will support a greater number of options at Level 6 in S5 and S6.
Please note that no course can be guaranteed - sometimes both pupils and school have to make difficult decisions based on a range of factors.
